Amazon Gives Qualcomm A Decade-Long Data Center Option
Qualcomm will manufacture custom data-center chips for Amazon under a partnership that includes AI inference and optical connectivity. Amazon received a warrant tied to 25 million Qualcomm shares, while the agreement could support up to $60 billion of Qualcomm product purchases over 10 years.
The deal matters because hyperscalers are turning chip supply into strategic optionality. Amazon gets another path beyond standard merchant silicon, while Qualcomm gets a clearer shot at data-center revenue. For founders and investors, the signal is that AI infrastructure is still being reorganized around control, supply and bargaining power.
