Finance Leaders Want AI Reports, Not AI Autonomy
A PEX survey of 687 finance and operations leaders found that AI interest is far ahead of AI delegation. Thirty-one percent said they are using AI, 66% are interested, but only 28% are comfortable letting AI make routine finance decisions. Trust in output was the top barrier.
The adoption gap is a useful warning for CFOs buying automation. Leaders want reporting, faster close cycles and less manual review, but they are still reluctant to surrender judgment. The opportunity is not simply adding AI; it is designing controls that make finance teams comfortable with where machines stop.
