FUNDING

Verda raises €164.8 million and states where the money is pointed

Verda, the Helsinki-based AI infrastructure company formerly called DataCrunch, announced on 22 September 2026 that it had raised €164.8 million ($189 million), reaching unicorn status. The oversubscribed Series B was led by Emergence Capital, with MUFG Innovation Partners, Supermicro, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Lifeline Ventures, 6 Degrees Capital, byFounders and Tesi participating. Total funding now exceeds €392.3 million ($450 million).

Founder and CEO Ruben Bryon framed the raise against a fixed point rather than market noise: building the first true tech company in Europe with AI infrastructure as its foundation, and cutting the carbon footprint of compute worldwide. The capital is allocated accordingly, toward compute capacity, inference and platform services, with Finnish data centres on 100% renewable energy and offices opened in London and San Francisco.
