Good Tape founders buy out their newsroom parent with 600,000 euros
Good Tape, the Copenhagen-based AI transcription company, raised 600,000 euros from Nordic Makers as part of a management buy-out in which co-founders Ymir Gyduson Gislason and Lasse Finderup took over the ownership stake held by Zetland, the Danish member-funded newsroom that incubated the tool. Zendesk co-founder Alexander Aghassipour led the investment and joined the board.
The capital did not arrive to plug a hole or chase a trend: it was used to change who owns the company. Founded in 2022 inside a newsroom, Good Tape has run more than 15 million transcriptions in over 100 languages and says 3 million people in more than 150 countries use it. The money bought control, not only runway.
