Neko Health takes its 500-dollar body scan to New York on investor optimism

Neko Health, the body scan company founded in Sweden, has opened in New York after raising nearly $1 billion, TechCrunch reported in October 2026. Co-founded by Hjalmar Nilsonne, it charges $500 for a one-hour scan that insurance does not cover, and it says its global waitlist is above 300,000 people. Farooq Abbasi of Preface Ventures, an investor, says his blood panel grew from 15 to 55 biomarkers.

The main case for the American expansion comes from Farooq Abbasi, who invested in Neko Health and has been scanned twice. He argues for cheap, accessible preventive care, but the scan costs $500 and insurance does not cover it. The article says scaling and regulatory approval in the United States are still unresolved. That leaves the optimism on record coming from someone whose money is already committed.
