Arena stakes a $3.1 billion valuation on becoming the neutral referee of AI models
Arena, the crowdsourced AI model leaderboard that began in 2023 as a UC Berkeley research project, raised a $200 million Series B at a $3.1 billion valuation in October 2026. The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Khosla Ventures. In January 2026, Arena was valued at $1.7 billion. Its annualized revenue grew from $30 million at that time to $100 million by June 2026.
Arena's rapid growth follows a goal the company has stated plainly: to become a neutral third party that measures how safe and aligned AI models are when real people use them. Two steps point toward that role. The first was its paid evaluation service, launched in September 2025. The second is a new alignment category that ranks models on unauthorized action, false attribution and deceptive completion.
