Former Google engineers raise 7.13 million euros to test code written by AI
Klarent, a Zurich startup formerly called fore ai, closed a seed round of 7.13 million euros to take its autonomous software testing platform into the United States. London-based Mosaic Ventures led the round, joined by Moonfire Ventures and angel investors including Jürgen Galler, a former Google director. Asheem Panakkat and Momchil Ivanov, two former Google engineers, founded the company in 2023.
Klarent's pitch rests on what stops leaking out of client budgets, not on new revenue. Its agents use language models only to write tests. The tests then run in a fixed, repeatable way, and a human verification layer means customers pay only for confirmed outcomes. At banks and insurers, where a faulty release can be catastrophically expensive, testing turns from a cost centre into the barrier that keeps losses in.
