OpenPayd founder Ozan Ozerk runs his fintech with emergency room triage
Ozan Ozerk, founder of the Banking-as-a-Service fintech OpenPayd, runs his company using the triage method he learned as an emergency room doctor. He had earlier co-founded and sold the social network Biip.no. He started OpenPayd around one problem, ready-to-use bank accounts for businesses. He then widened it to payments and foreign exchange through a single API, and the company now serves more than 1,200 clients globally.
The discipline Ozerk describes is a filter against noise: trends picked up from the news, the loudest crisis of the day, and the vision promised early in a pitch deck. He tracks cash runway, customer turnover and active users before trouble arrives, which lets a founder rank problems by real urgency rather than volume. Each expansion of OpenPayd followed a chain of customer friction, not a headline.
