Philanthropists and investors in Manaus confront social projects that fade when funding ends
Latimpacto's fifth Impact Minds conference, held from September 8 to 11, 2026, in Manaus, Amazonas, brought more than 500 participants from 25 countries together around one question: how social investment can produce change that lasts after a project's funding ends. Latimpacto brings together more than 240 capital providers in over 30 countries, including foundations, impact funds and family wealth management firms.
The debates found the weak point at the handover, not at the launch. Funders run on their own timelines, while local transformation needs continuity. Money is sometimes secured before the problem is defined or before the people who will carry out the work are involved. Counting resources spent and people served says little about what remains in a community once the funder has left.
