How Cal AI's teenage founder turned paid influencers into thirty million dollars

Zach Yadegari, the nineteen-year-old founder of the calorie tracking app Cal AI, generated over thirty million dollars in revenue in two years by paying a large network of influencers to post about the app. Founded in 2024, Cal AI was acquired by MyFitnessPal in March 2026 for an undisclosed sum. Yadegari described the strategy at TechCrunch Disrupt on October 15, 2026.

The exit did not become an endpoint. In October 2026, months after the sale to MyFitnessPal, Zach Yadegari launched Persona, an AI agent startup that has already raised ten million dollars and plans a hardware ecosystem. The sequence raises the matter of whether selling Cal AI served a defined destination or simply cleared room for the next opportunity, a question his linear, fast growth formula never had to answer.
