Oxford biotech OMass raises €275 million to push its lead drug through Phase 2

OMass Therapeutics, a spin-out from the University of Oxford founded in 2016, has raised an oversubscribed Series C round of €275 million (£230 million), reported in October 2026. Three new investors co-led it: Bain Capital Life Sciences, Forbion and Novo Holdings. Every existing backer also joined, including Syncona, GV and Sanofi Ventures. Chief Executive Officer Ros Deegan said the money takes its lead drug, OMS1620, into the clinic.

The money comes with a named destination, not an open mandate. It is assigned to taking OMS1620 through Phase 2 trials in congenital adrenal hyperplasia and ACTH-dependent Cushing's syndrome, and to first clinical data for an SLC15A4 inhibitor aimed at lupus. Every existing investor returned alongside the new co-leads. The round alone accounts for €275 million of the €649.7 million in European therapeutics financing reported during 2026.
