Emerald lets a public grant open the door for its latest venture money
Emerald, a London preventive healthcare platform founded in 2024, has raised another 1.66 million euros, bringing its total funding to 3.44 million euros, EU-Startups reported in October 2026. Half of the money is an 832.2 thousand euro grant from Innovate UK, the company's second award from that agency. The other half is matching venture capital raised after the award, with Sequel and Highgoal joining as new backers.
The order of the money matters. Private investors put in their share only after a state innovation agency had committed, so the public funder in effect spoke first and venture capital followed. The grant is also set aside for building Emerald's artificial intelligence tools. That means part of the technical roadmap was shaped by a funder whose stated aim is better healthcare outcomes across the United Kingdom.
