Samplix closes twenty-five million euros, but only three million is fresh capital

Samplix, a Danish biotech company based in Birkerød, has closed a first tranche of twenty-five million euros. Only three million euros of it is new capital. The other twenty-two million euros comes from shareholder convertible bonds. WLanholding GmbH led the round, and all major shareholders took part. The round stays open, with a total target of thirty million euros.

The headline figure and the fresh cash tell different stories. Samplix was founded in 2013, and this round is funded mostly by people who already own its shares, through bonds that can later turn into equity. That keeps the company funded without a broad outside test of its value. The cost will show up later in ownership terms, not in this round's numbers.
